iPhone repair information

Clear, unbiased explanations of how common iPhone repairs work — so you can make informed decisions and prepare your device properly.

Please note: These pages are for information only. iCare Support does not currently offer repair services and is not an authorised service provider. For hardware repairs, use a qualified, reputable technician and check your warranty coverage first.

Screen replacement

Cracked glass, dead pixels or an unresponsive display often mean the screen assembly needs replacing. Genuine or high-quality parts matter — a poor screen can affect brightness, touch accuracy and, on some models, Face ID or True Tone.

Battery replacement

If maximum capacity has dropped below about 80%, or the phone shuts down unexpectedly, a fresh battery can restore full-day life. Battery work involves adhesive and delicate connectors, so it is best handled by a technician.

Charging port issues

When cleaning the port and swapping cables does not help, the charging port (flex cable) may be worn or damaged. A technician can test and replace the port assembly.

Camera repair

A camera that stays black, will not focus, or rattles after a drop may have a faulty module or misaligned lens. Camera modules are replaceable, and diagnostics can confirm the fault first.

Water damage

Liquid exposure can corrode internal components over days or weeks. Professional cleaning and inspection give the best chance of recovery — never rely on rice or heat, which can make things worse.

Diagnostics

A proper diagnostic isolates whether a fault is software or hardware, and which part is responsible. It prevents unnecessary repairs and gives you an honest picture before spending money.

Warranty information

Coverage depends on the device age, purchase details and any protection plan. Accidental damage and non-genuine prior repairs can affect eligibility. Always check your specific coverage before authorising work.

Preparing for repair

Back up your data, note your passcodes and Apple ID, remove the SIM, and turn off activation lock features if instructed. A prepared device makes any repair faster and safer for your data.
